- Brief
A timber-lined reading room whose vaulted ceiling was to carry a reproduction of a historic painted scheme.
- Build
A large-format print is applied across the full curve of the vault, carrying the figures, the central roundel and the encircling band of lettering. The print is worked around a ceiling air-conditioning cassette and a lighting track rather than stopping short of them.
- Result
The vault reads as a painted ceiling rather than as an applied print, and the services set into it disappear into the artwork.
